The leader of one of the most famous gyms in the legendary Copacabana burg of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Fabricio Martins is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu coral belt under Master Osvaldo Alves that has helped raise the games of many grapplers around the world, including former world champion Daniel Otero. Martins’ team, Fabricio International Team, has affiliates all over the world, including Germany, Jordan, the Philippines, Taiwan, Belgium, United States, Canada, Montenegro, Peru, Palestine and Korea.

Fabricio Martins started training in 1972 influenced by his older brothers who had started before him (“Zeco” and Paulo Henrique), all of whom started at the famous Osvaldo Alves academy in Copacabana. Fabricio became addicted to Master Alves’ teachings, and started training as much as 3 times per day, shaping himself in to one of the top competitors for the team in the 80’s era.

Shortly after his development as an athlete, Fabricio started assisting Master Osvaldo Alves in the academy and after he received his black belt at the age of 20 he decided to open his own academy, with his master’s consent. The Equipe Fabricio was born in Fabricio’s parent’s house; there he started a team that quickly outgrew their first location. With the always growing success of the academy, Martins eventually settled in Avenida Nossa Senhora de Copacabana (Zona Sul of Rio de Janeiro), where this Jiu Jitsu team really started making their mark in the sport, benefiting not only from Martin’s excellent skill but also from the location as it is in situated in one of the most popular streets of the Copacabana neighbourhood.

In the year of 2014 Fabricio decided to unify all the gyms under his belt to create the Fabricio International Team in order to compete the big events on IBJJF. With gyms in all over the world Fabricio organized the team to fight under one flag, strong and united.
